About the Product
Nutrex Research's Lipo-6 CLA 1000 is a highly concentrated Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) supplement in fast-absorbing softgels, with 1000mg of CLA Active Blend per softgel yielding 80% pure CLA derived from safflower oil — equivalent to 800mg of biologically active CLA per softgel. Completely stimulant-free, no caffeine, no synephrine, no yohimbine — the purest and most convenient body composition supplement in the Nutrex portfolio for standalone use or stacked with any stimulating fat burner from the Lipo-6 line. 180 softgels (90 doses of 2 softgels/day = 90 days of use). Not vegan (gelatin). 1 softgel in the morning + 1 softgel in the evening with a meal.
Ingredients: CLA Active Blend 1000mg (yielding 80% CLA from safflower oil/Carthamus tinctorius). Other ingredients: Gelatin + Purified Water + Glycerin + Carob extract.
Benefits
CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid): the most studied body composition fatty acid in supplement history:
CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) is a family of positional and geometric isomers of linoleic acid (C18:2), naturally found in the fat of meat and milk from ruminants (especially grass-fed animals, where the CLA concentration can be 3 to 5 times higher than in grain-fed animals). The two most biologically active isomers are cis-9, trans-11 CLA (c9,t11, also known as rumenic acid — the dominant isomer in milk and meat, with anti-carcinogenic and immunomodulatory properties) and trans-10, cis-12 CLA (t10,c12 — the isomer with greater activity in body composition, especially in reducing fat mass and preserving muscle mass). The CLA from safflower oil (the source used in Lipo-6 CLA, like in most CLA supplements on the market) provides a mixture of c9,t11 and t10,c12 isomers in approximately equal proportions.
80% CLA from safflower oil: the premium concentration per softgel:
The CLA Active Blend in Lipo-6 CLA is standardized to 80% total CLA from safflower oil — a significantly higher concentration than economic CLA supplements on the market (often standardized to 60 to 70% CLA). With 1000mg of CLA Active Blend at 80%, each softgel provides 800mg of biologically active CLA — and at 2 softgels/day, the total dose is 1600mg of CLA/day. Reference meta-analyses on CLA and body composition (Whigham et al., 2007, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition; Onakpoya et al., 2012, Journal of Obesity) used doses of 1.4 to 3.2g/day of total CLA, with documented fat mass reduction efficacy of ~0.09 kg/week vs. placebo. The 1.6g/day dose of Lipo-6 CLA (2 softgels) falls within this documented efficacy window.
CLA mechanisms in body composition: PPAR, LPL, and adipocyte apoptosis:
CLA (especially the t10,c12 isomer) acts on body composition through multiple convergent mechanisms. The first is the activation of PPAR-α receptors (Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor alpha) in muscle and liver cells: PPAR-α are nuclear receptors that, when activated by fatty acids (including CLA), regulate the expression of genes involved in mitochondrial β-oxidation of fatty acids — increasing the mitochondria's capacity to oxidize fat as fuel. The second mechanism is the inhibition of lipoprotein lipase (LPL) in adipocytes: LPL is the enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of circulating triglycerides (in VLDL and chylomicrons) and the subsequent uptake of the resulting fatty acids by adipocytes for re-esterification and storage as fat. CLA t10,c12 inhibits adipocyte LPL, reducing fat accumulation in adipocytes regardless of caloric intake. The third mechanism is the promotion of mature adipocyte apoptosis: CLA t10,c12 induces apoptosis (programmed cell death) of adipocytes via caspase activation, reducing the total number of fat cells. These three combined mechanisms explain the effect of reducing fat mass with preservation of muscle mass documented in clinical trials with CLA.
Safflower oil (Carthamus tinctorius): the most concentrated vegetable source of CLA for supplementation:
Safflower oil is obtained from the seeds of Carthamus tinctorius, an oil-rich plant from the composite family. The high-linoleic safflower oil variety has a linoleic acid content of 75 to 80% of total fatty acids — much higher than sunflower oil (70%), olive oil (10%), or coconut oil (<5%). The concentration of CLA in non-hydrogenated safflower oil is low (CLA is mainly formed by bacterial biohydrogenation in the rumen of animals, not in plants), so the CLA in the supplement is industrially produced from the linoleic acid of safflower oil by controlled chemical isomerization (conversion of linoleic acid into CLA isomers by alkaline treatment). Safflower oil is the preferred raw material for supplemental CLA production due to its high concentration of linoleic acid (the isomerization substrate) and its clean fatty acid profile.
Stimulant-free: the body composition supplement for any time and anyone:
Lipo-6 CLA is completely stimulant-free — no caffeine, no synephrine, no yohimbine, no adrenergic compounds whatsoever. This makes it suitable for: use at any time of day, including at night; people sensitive to caffeine or with cardiovascular conditions; athletes who already take a stimulating fat burner (Lipo-6 Black, UC, Intense, or Hardcore) and want to add CLA to their stack without increasing the stimulant load; pregnant women (check with doctor); and continued use for prolonged periods without the mandatory cycle restrictions of fat burners with stimulants. CLA can — and should — be taken every day, including rest days without training.
Nutrex's softgel technology: rapid absorption of CLA in a lipid medium:
Lipo-6 CLA uses liquid-filled gelatin softgels — the same philosophy as Nutrex's Liqui-Caps applied to CLA. CLA in liquid softgel form has faster and more complete intestinal absorption than CLA in dry powder capsules or tablets: CLA is a fatty acid and as such is absorbed by biliary micelles in the small intestine along with dietary fats. Absorption is maximized when the softgel is taken with a meal containing some dietary fat (which stimulates the secretion of bile and pancreatic lipase necessary for fatty acid absorption).
Usage
Recommended dosage: Take 1 softgel in the morning and 1 softgel in the evening, preferably with a meal. To maximize absorption, take with meals containing fat. Can be taken every day including non-training days — CLA has a cumulative effect and requires consistent use for 4 to 8 weeks to produce measurable results in body composition. 180 softgels = 90 doses of 2 softgels = 90 days of use.
