About the Product
ELTORO from Marvelous Nutrition is a hydrolyzed beef protein powder, a premium alternative to whey protein for athletes who prefer a non-dairy protein source, are lactose intolerant, or want to diversify their protein sources in their diet. With 30g of hydrolyzed beef protein per 30g serving (single ingredient serving), ELTORO combines high biological value, ultra-fast digestion (hydrolysis pre-digests protein into low molecular weight peptides with immediate absorption), and total absence of lactose and dairy products. It includes Librifoam® as a patented anti-foaming agent to ensure clean mixing without excessive foam. 1.8 kg per pack (60 servings). Flavours: Ice Tea Peach, Orange Mango, and Watermelon. Not vegan.
Benefits
Hydrolyzed beef protein: the premium whey alternative for lactose-free athletes:
Beef protein is obtained by enzymatic hydrolysis of high-quality beef, resulting in a product with the following technical characteristics that distinguish it from whey: total absence of lactose (it is a non-dairy animal protein, completely free of lactose and milk proteins), absence of cholesterol and fat in the isolated hydrolyzed form (the isolation and hydrolysis process removes intramuscular fats from the meat), complete essential amino acid profile (bovine protein has DIAAS > 1.0, meaning a protein quality score comparable to whey), and high endogenous creatine content (beef is the main dietary source of creatine, and hydrolyzed beef protein retains part of this creatine). For athletes who use whey protein (Bulk) and want a complementary non-dairy source for some meals, ELTORO is the natural alternative in the Marvelous portfolio.
Hydrolysis: enzymatic pre-digestion that maximizes absorption and minimizes gastrointestinal discomfort:
The process of hydrolysis (used in "hydrolysed beef protein") consists of the enzymatic breakdown of intact protein peptide bonds into low molecular weight peptides (di-, tri- and oligopeptides) and free amino acids. Hydrolyzed protein has multiple advantages over intact protein: intestinal absorption is faster and more efficient (PEPT1 and PEPT2 peptide transporters in the small intestine absorb di- and tripeptides more efficiently than individual amino acid transporters, and hydrolysis eliminates the need for additional proteolytic digestion by pancreatic proteases); the risk of gastrointestinal discomfort is lower (hydrolyzed proteins produce less colonic fermentation and less abdominal distension than intact proteins); and the onset of plasma aminoacidemia is faster (with an earlier peak of amino acids in the blood after ingestion), which is especially relevant in the post-workout window. The absorption kinetics of hydrolyzed beef protein are comparable to those of hydrolyzed whey (Hydro Whey), making it suitable for post-workout use where the speed of aminoacidemia is a factor.
Amino acid profile: high glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline content vs. whey:
The amino acid profile of beef protein has relevant differences compared to whey that are often undervalued. Bovine protein has a higher proportion of glycine (essential for collagen, creatine, and hepatic porphyrin synthesis), proline (structural component of collagen), and alanine than whey, but lower levels of leucine (~8% vs. ~11% in whey) and total BCAAs. This difference makes bovine protein especially suitable for supporting collagen and connective tissue synthesis (tendons, ligaments, cartilage), making ELTORO an interesting complement to Marvelous Collagen for athletes with joint recovery needs. For maximum muscle protein synthesis (MPS via mTORC1), the leucine in whey (Bulk) is superior, but to cover the full spectrum of dietary amino acids with additional support for connective tissue, the ELTORO + Bulk combination is more complete than either of the two isolated proteins.
Librifoam®: the patented anti-foaming technology for clean shakes:
Librifoam® (sodium tripolyphosphate + water + dimethylpolysiloxane) is an FDA and EFSA approved anti-foaming agent, specifically developed for protein supplement applications. Hydrolyzed bovine protein has a greater tendency to form excessive foam during mixing (due to the specific profile of hydrolyzed proteins and peptides) than whey, which can result in shakes with a large volume of foam and lower volumetric density. Librifoam® reduces the surface tension of peptides in solution, suppressing bubble formation and resulting in a cleaner shake, with a denser consistency and a more pleasant consumption experience.
Zero lactose, zero dairy: the protein for all athletes:
ELTORO is completely free of lactose and any milk protein (casein, whey, lactoferrin), making it suitable for athletes with lactose intolerance, milk protein allergy (CMPA), or who prefer to exclude dairy products from their diet for personal or cultural reasons. It is also suitable for halal and kosher diets (check certifications on the packaging). For people with lactose intolerance who cannot tolerate Bulk (WPI) despite the isolate's low lactose content, ELTORO is the direct alternative without any compromise on quality or protein intake.
Refreshing flavours: the protein you drink like a sports drink:
The flavours chosen for ELTORO (Ice Tea Peach, Orange Mango, and Watermelon) are refreshing and fruity, typically associated with sports/isotonic drinks instead of the chocolate/vanilla/strawberry flavours of conventional proteins. This choice of flavours is deliberate: hydrolyzed bovine protein has a different organoleptic profile (taste, aroma) from whey, with more neutral and slightly salty notes that combine better with fruit flavours and refreshing drinks than with creamy dessert flavours. This combination makes ELTORO a protein that can be consumed during training (as an intra-workout protein during long sessions) without the "heavy shake" feeling associated with chocolate/vanilla proteins.
Usage
Recommended dose: Mix 1 scoop (30g) with 200 to 300 ml of cold water, shake vigorously. Consume immediately after training or at any other time of day. For maximum post-workout recovery results, consume within the first 30 minutes after training. Hydrolyzed protein can also be used during long training sessions (>90 minutes) as an intra-workout amino acid source to minimize muscle catabolism. 1.8 kg = 60 servings.
