About the Product
Hydra Pro is the isotonic powder drink from Life Pro Nutrition's Endurance line, specifically designed to support performance and hydration in long-duration physical activities (over 1 hour). Each 30g dose provides a triple source of fast-absorbing carbohydrates (Maltodextrin + Fructose + Dextrose), combined with two essential electrolytes (Sodium via sodium chloride and Potassium via potassium citrate), which together ensure immediate energy supply, muscle glycogen replenishment, and the maintenance of fluid and electrolyte balance during sports. The osmolarity of the prepared isotonic solution (30g in 500ml of water) is balanced to match that of body fluids, ensuring rapid absorption without gastrointestinal discomfort. Available in 4 refreshing flavors: Orange, Lemon, Apple, and Watermelon. 810g per package (~27 doses). Endurance line, oriented towards running, cycling, triathlon, and other endurance sports.
Benefits
Triple source of carbohydrates with distinct absorption rates: immediate and sustained energy coverage:
The combination of three carbohydrate sources with different glycemic indexes and absorption rates is a formulation approach that optimizes both the speed of energy availability and the temporal sustenance of energy supply during prolonged exertion. Dextrose (glucose, monosaccharide) is the fastest-absorbing carbohydrate available, being absorbed directly in the intestine without prior digestion and raising blood glucose levels within minutes of ingestion; it is the energy substrate that provides immediate energy to the muscle and brain in the initial phases after ingestion. Fructose (a monosaccharide with slower intestinal absorption than glucose, via the GLUT5 transporter instead of the GLUT2 used by glucose) has a lower glycemic index, a smoother glycemic peak, and a more gradual and prolonged energy release; additionally, fructose is preferentially metabolized in the liver for hepatic glycogen resynthesis, thus complementing the role of glucose in muscle glycogen resynthesis. Maltodextrin is a short to medium-chain polysaccharide obtained by partial hydrolysis of starch, with rapid intestinal absorption but slightly slower than glucose, providing an intermediate and sustained glycemic curve. The simultaneous use of glucose and fructose is nutritionally relevant given that these two hexoses use distinct intestinal transporters (GLUT2/SGLT1 for glucose/maltodextrin and GLUT5 for fructose), allowing a higher total intestinal carbohydrate absorption rate than would be possible with a single source (studies document that the glucose + fructose combination can increase the absorption rate from up to 60g/hour with isolated glucose to up to 90 to 105g/hour with the combination).
Isotonic drink: the ideal format for hydration during long-duration exercise:
Isotonic drinks have an osmolarity similar to that of body fluids (270 to 330 mOsm/kg), which distinguishes them from hypotonic drinks (more diluted, lower osmolarity, faster absorption but less energy intake) and hyperosmolar drinks (more concentrated, higher osmolarity, greater energy intake but slower absorption and higher risk of gastrointestinal discomfort). This osmotic equivalence with body fluids ensures that the isotonic solution prepared with 30g of Hydra Pro in 500ml of water is absorbed by the intestinal mucosa quickly and efficiently, without requiring prior dilution with body fluids (unlike hyperosmolar drinks) and without the risk of excessively rapid absorption with insufficient energy intake (unlike hypotonic drinks or plain water). This controlled absorption rate is critical during continuous exercise, where blood flow to the gastrointestinal tract is reduced and intestinal absorption capacity is limited.
428mg of Sodium and 118.8mg of Potassium per dose: replenishment of the main electrolytes lost through sweating:
Sodium (via sodium chloride, salt) is the most abundant electrolyte in extracellular fluid and the most lost through sweating (sodium concentration in sweat varies between 20 and 80 mmol/L depending on training status, heat acclimatization level, and individual athlete characteristics). Sodium replenishment during exercise is critical for multiple reasons: it maintains the osmotic gradient that regulates water retention by the body (without sufficient sodium, ingested water is rapidly excreted by the kidneys, resulting in ineffective hydration); it stimulates intestinal glucose absorption via the SGLT1 co-transporter (which co-transports sodium and glucose in the intestinal mucosa, making glucose absorption dependent on the presence of sodium in the lumen); and it prevents exercise-associated hyponatremia, which can occur in endurance athletes who ingest large amounts of plain water without sodium during very prolonged efforts. Potassium (via potassium citrate, which is the form of potassium with better bioavailability and less gastric impact compared to potassium chloride) is the main intracellular electrolyte, essential for the membrane potential of muscle fibers and for neuromuscular transmission; its loss through sweat can cause muscle cramps, weakness, and early fatigue, especially in prolonged efforts.
Endurance Line: specifically formulated for endurance sports:
Hydra Pro is part of Life Pro Nutrition's Endurance line, a range of supplements specifically developed for the nutritional needs of endurance athletes (running, cycling, triathlon, swimming, trail, football, etc.), who are distinguished from strength and power athletes by the prolonged duration of their efforts, the high volume of fluids and electrolytes lost through sweating, and the need for sustained energy sources over hours of continuous activity. The formulation of Hydra Pro is geared towards this specific population, with an emphasis on rapid absorption without gastrointestinal discomfort, electrolyte replenishment, and sustained blood glucose throughout sessions lasting 1 to 4 or more hours.
Uses
How to prepare: Dissolve 30g (1 scoop up to the 50ml mark) in 500ml of water. Shake well until completely dissolved. The ideal consumption temperature is between 15 and 20°C to maximize absorption and palatability.
When to consume: During training or competition, especially in activities lasting over 1 hour or of high intensity. Recommended for sessions held in hot environments or with high sweating. Hydra Pro is not intended for post-workout use (for this purpose, RecoPro Cluster Dextrin with BCAAs and Electrolytes is the complementary option from the same brand, with added BCAAs).
Consumption volume: Between 500 and 1000ml per hour, adjusted to individual sweating levels, effort intensity, and environmental conditions.
